Love this period of music, the energy at the shows. It was hard to find after the wheels fell off the Bus in '95...
It seemed like Phil's personal journey revitalized the spirit of the music, as evidenced in so many of these P&F shows. Wished that Kimock and Haynes sat in together more often - such great chemistry. Reminded of similar vibe when Kimock and Herring play together (see https://archive.org/details/kvhw1999-04-30c61).
While each of the sources sound great, the placement of the mics is the most discernible difference for me... you can hear less stereo separation in the FOB source along with a narrower dynamic range.
The Schoeps source sounds like it's very close to these B&Ks in terms of placement relative to the stage, but the signal sounds a little hot on the Schoeps. So, I'm not sure whether it's the mics or something downstream in the set-up, but props and gratitude to the archivist that hooked us up - great show, great recording!

I prefer the sound from these B&Ks, they really grab the sound from Phil's bass, also Warren's slide and Kimock's strat tone really compliment each other. This is a wonderful pre-Q show.
